Our commitment
Creators S uck At Taxes LLC is committed to making scofiabarrk.com accessible to the widest possible audience, regardless of ability or the technology used to browse. We take the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at Level AA as our working standard.
We treat this as an ongoing obligation rather than a completed project. Accessibility is checked when pages are built and re-checked when they change.
What we have implemented
- Semantic HTML. Real headings in a logical order, lists marked up as lists, tables with proper header cells and captions, and landmark regions for header, navigation, main content and footer.
- Keyboard operability. Every interactive element — navigation, dropdowns, accordions, the glossary filter, the cookie banner, forms — can be reached and operated with a keyboard alone. Nothing traps focus.
- Visible focus. A clear focus indicator is shown on every focusable element, and it is not removed for aesthetic reasons.
- Skip link. A "skip to main content" link is the first item in the tab order on every page.
- Colour contrast. Body text, headings and interface elements are chosen to meet or exceed the AA contrast ratios.
- Colour is never the only cue. Meaning conveyed by colour is always also conveyed by text, shape or position.
- Text alternatives. Informative images and diagrams carry accessible names and descriptions; decorative graphics are hidden from assistive technology.
- Resizable text. The layout reflows to 200% zoom without loss of content or functionality, and no horizontal scrolling is required on the page body.
- Responsive layout. Content adapts from small phones to large desktop displays.
- Reduced motion. Animation and smooth scrolling are disabled automatically for visitors whose system requests reduced motion.
- Form labelling. Every field has a visible, associated label; errors are announced, described in text, and are not indicated by colour alone.
- Accessible states. Expandable components report their state with
aria-expanded, and hidden panels are genuinely hidden from assistive technology. - Descriptive links. Link text describes its destination rather than saying "click here".
- Language declared. Each page declares its language so screen readers pronounce content correctly.
- Works without JavaScript. All content is readable with JavaScript disabled; scripting adds convenience, not access.
Known limitations
We would rather name the gaps than imply there are none:
- Complex tables. Some comparison tables have several columns. They scroll horizontally inside their own container on small screens, which can be awkward with a screen magnifier. The surrounding text always states the key point so the table is supplementary rather than essential.
- Diagrams. Our SVG diagrams carry titles and accessible descriptions, but a diagram is inherently visual. Each one is accompanied by prose that conveys the same information.
- Third-party advertising. Advertisements are served by third parties and are outside our direct control. We cannot guarantee that every advertisement meets the same accessibility standard as our own content. Where we can influence ad formats, we do.
- External links. Third-party websites we link to have their own accessibility standards, which we do not control.
How we test
- Keyboard-only navigation of every page and interactive component
- Automated checks for contrast, landmark structure, heading order and labelling
- Zoom and reflow testing at 200% and above
- Verification that content remains readable with JavaScript disabled
- Review of colour contrast values at the design stage rather than after the fact
Compatibility
The site is designed to work with current versions of major browsers — Chrome, Firefox, Safari and Edge — on desktop and mobile, in combination with common assistive technologies. Older browsers may render the design differently, but content remains accessible.
Report a barrier
If any part of this site prevents you from reading or using it, please tell us. Reports from readers are the most reliable way we find real problems.
Email info@scofiabarrk.com with "Accessibility" in the subject line. It helps if you can include:
- the page address
- a description of the problem
- the browser, operating system and any assistive technology you were using
We aim to acknowledge accessibility reports within five business days and to describe what we intend to do about it. If a fix will take time, we will say so and offer the content in an alternative format in the meantime.
Formal complaints
If you are not satisfied with our response, write to us at the postal address below marked for the attention of the editorial team, and we will review the matter again.
